On Music Theory, Second Edition

The focus of this combination text/workbook is the harmonic procedures of the Common Practice, which is generally the topic of the first three or four semesters during the student's freshmen and sophomore years. On Music Theory follows a practical approach and the procedure is for students to learn in a cumulative fashion.

Each chapter features worksheets for drill as well as suggested musical examples for analysis. Other activities, including harmonization of melodies, writing for the piano, and composition, are gradually incorporated.
